Background and goals
Impact goal – the project Internationalisation wants to achieve
Through strategically selected collaborations, good operations are strengthened and new ones are created. It generates:
- Increased qualified contact areas for Swedish innovative medtech SMEs.
- Increased qualified collaborations (studies, distribution, development, investments)
- Increased visibility and contact for Swedish companies vis-à-vis European and Swedish investors with experience in Medtech and related areas.
- Increased visibility and contact for Swedish researchers towards the European research elite in medical technology
- Increased visibility and influence for medical technology as an area within EU calls, and with the Swedish Research Council and other funders
The strategic project Internationalisation started in 2019
Small and medium-sized innovative pharmaceutical companies often experience demands for internationalisation at an early stage. This is a central and difficult challenge as small and medium-sized medical technology companies (SMEs) are rarely equipped for the task. An investigation that Medtech4Health produced in 2019 showed that:
- internationalisation is one of the main strategic challenges for the company.
- effective internationalisation lays an invaluable foundation for value added.
- it is difficult to find the right parties for collaborations, studies, regulatory conditions, compensation systems, distribution, procurement, etc.
- it is costly and time consuming to make mistakes, it takes a long time to realize that you are going the wrong way or cooperating with the wrong parties.
- there are good examples of working support mechanisms in different parts of the country, while the gaps are many.
