Winners and finalists in the Medtech4Health Innovation Award 2022

SeeWound are the winners of the Medtech4Health Innovation Award 2022. The AI ​​tool contributes to a better treatment of difficult-to-heal wounds and increases patient safety. The innovation has been developed at the University Hospital in Linköping.

SeeWound makes it easier to document and follow the development of difficult-to-heal wounds. The innovation has been developed by a team at the University Hospital in Linköping and is used at the hospital’s Burn Center. Now the hope is that SeeWound can be spread as a comprehensive support system for wound care throughout Sweden.

The finalists in the 2022 edition show new thinking in cross-border diagnostics and infection tracking with the help of search engine robots.

Winner: SeeWound for automatic follow-up of difficult-to-heal wounds in clinical practice

The project reaches winner status to be an innovative project in a neglected area where healthcare today is faced with difficult decisions and patients experience great suffering. An innovative idea where the nominees have used new technology to solve the problem. The nominees have been instrumental in developing and implementing the digital follow-up tool SeeWound for automatic follow-up of difficult-to-heal wounds in clinical activities. The application improves documentation, increases patient safety and enables more information-driven and digital wound treatment for patients throughout Sweden. Follow-up is made easier by everything from wounds treated under municipal auspices to health centers and specialist clinics under regional auspices.


Finalist: Cross-border diagnostics and treatment with the model ”Västerbotten without Borders”

Finalist status has been achieved by the nominees using their knowledge and insights on some of healthcare’s biggest challenges in combination with innovation to find solutions that are at the forefront. With a clear focus on needs in a solid collaborative project, they have formed partnerships across organizational and geographical boundaries. Patients have access to continuous and professional care contact, at the same time as staff with a high workload and stressful lives are relieved by competent colleagues at a distance, even across national borders.


Finalist: Robot which, with the help of RPA technology, searches through many different journal systems

The robot has been selected as a finalist as the project saves time for staff who can instead work clinically and where the solution reduces the risk of sources of error in quality registers and makes infection tracking easier. The nominees have taken the initiative to develop a robot that, with the help of RPA technology, searches through many different medical record systems, which significantly simplifies and improves infection tracking. The functionality allows you to see care chains that run between the municipality, primary care and hospital and make contacts visible in a way that makes the information easier to work with and further spread of infection can be prevented quickly.
