Many events in Sweden during European Medtech Week
During one week in mid-June we celebrated the importance of medtech as part of the European MedTech Week. European MedTech Week is a week-long programme of events and activities across Europe aimed at raising awareness and creating a conversation about medical technology. The theme for 2016 was: How medtech can support people in their everyday lives, from diagnosis to cure. Swedish participation was co-ordinated by Swedish Medtech, the Association for Medical Technology in Sweden.
Interviews with patients and experts
During the week we published two interviews in Swedish. Reidar Gårdebäck shared his views of the future of medtech. He believes that digitalisation, treatment and care in homes are three key areas. The other interview, with the mother of a 3-year-old boy who uses bone anchored hearing aids, reminded us all of the importance that medtech can play in peoples’ lives.
Seminars in several places in Sweden
Medtech4Health partners or projects were involved in seminars in several places in Sweden: Uppsala on Tuesday, Umeå on Wednesday, Gothenburg on Thursday and finally Stockholm on Friday.
These seminars were open to the general public, patient interest groups, academia, the medtech industry and politicians. They were all well attended and appreciated. The aim was to share the latest research, show off prototypes, report devlopments, and discuss benefits to patients. One common theme was the importance of collaboration between industry, academia and healthcare in order to advance patient benefits.
The pictures below are from the coffee break during the event arranged by Medtech West in Gothenburg.
