Accelerating the implementation of medical technologies through international knowledge
Are there lessons to be learnt from other EU countries’ implementation of innovative medical technologies in healthcare? A feasibility study funded by Medtech4Health explores the potential for international knowledge transfer.
Sweden needs to find new ways to speed up the implementation of medical technology in healthcare. A new feasibility study is investigating whether it is possible to develop a national model for implementation based on international models.
The Accelerated National Implementation Adoption (ANIA) feasibility study is funded as a strategic project by Medtech4Health. The aim is to take a closer look at how the implementation of methods and solutions in healthcare takes place in France and Spain. The question is whether there are lessons learnt there that can be transferred to Sweden.
“We want to investigate what conditions exist to streamline the introduction of innovative methods and solutions through an overall national model. At the same time, we are developing a conceptual model for national implementation with the help of a broad international analysis and international comparisons, primarily with France and Spain,” says Claudia Ciambriello, Medtech4Health.
The study, which runs until spring 2025, involves EIT Health, AstraZeneca, Vårdföretagarna, London School of Economics and Swedish Medtech.
“Sweden needs to get better at introducing new medical technology innovations that can benefit patients in the healthcare system. We already have a good foundation in the form of innovative companies with demand-driven solutions, but we need to find more effective ways to accelerate their use,” says Lena Strömberg, Programme Director of Medtech4Health.
