Scotland and Sweden join forces to implement innovative medical technologies
The Scottish Health Service recently welcomed a delegation from Sweden. The visit was a starting point for closer co-operation focusing on the implementation of innovative medical technology in healthcare. A visit to Sweden is now planned for the autumn.
In April, a delegation travelled to Scotland to initiate increased healthcare cooperation between the countries. The aim is to share strategies for the implementation of innovative medical technologies and the digitalisation of healthcare.
Lena Strömberg, Programme Director of Medtech4Health, was among the participants.
– ‘There are many areas where we can learn from each other, not least in technology transfer, implementation and clinical trials. Together we can also improve the conditions for small and medium-sized enterprises to reach a larger market,’ says Lena Strömberg, who gave an introduction to Medtech4Health and the Swedish innovation support system with a focus on medical technology, health and care during the second day of the trip.
Medtech4Health’s strategic project Accelerated National Implementation Adoption (ANIA) has a counterpart in Scotland, where it is led by the Centre for Sustainable Delivery (CfSD). Both projects aim to streamline the national implementation of innovative practices and solutions in the health sector.
The delegation visit was a first step to increase the exchange of knowledge between the countries’ projects and create closer contact between the different actors. A similar visit to Sweden is planned for the autumn to welcome the Scottish colleagues and several in-depth cooperation talks are already underway.
The trip was organised by Swecare in collaboration with Scottish Development International.
