A strategic national innovation program for medtech
Medtech4Health is a national Swedish strategic innovation program focusing on medical technology. We work to ensure that more medical technology ideas and solutions are implemented in health and social care in order to create value for patients. To make this possible, we bring together actors in healthcare, academia, non-profit organisations, industry and regional innovation support nodes in different types of projects. The aim is to use innovation to improve the efficiency of healthcare and strengthen the medical technology industry, nationally and internationally.
Funding that put people first
Financial support for innovation projects in the field of medical technology is an important part of our activities. One tool is open calls for funds. Different calls have different purposes and target groups. Sometimes we specifically target healthcare, sometimes small businesses and sometimes collaborative projects. In general, priority is given to: projects involving partners from several sectors of healthcare, i.e. collaborations between industry, academia, health and social care, and patients (users) and/or patient organisations; projects that have commercial potential or are otherwise beneficial; projects that put people first.
17 strategic innovation programs
We are one of 17 strategic innovation programs working on behalf of the government through Vinnova, the Swedish Energy Agency and Formas. The innovation programs work through collaboration in the areas that are strategically important for Sweden. The aim is to create the conditions for sustainable solutions to global societal challenges and increased international competitiveness in line with the global health goals. This means, for example, that sustainability and gender equality must permeate the projects we fund.
