Our connection to Agenda 2030
The government has an action plan for Agenda 2030. It is a universal agenda aimed at eradicating poverty and hunger, realizing human rights for all, achieving equality and creating lasting protection for our planet and our natural resources. As one of 17 strategic innovation programmes that Vinnova, the Swedish Energy Agency and Formas finance, Medtech4Health works to support the goals of Agenda 2030. We focus on three of the 17 goals of Agenda 2030:
Goal 3: Good health and well-being
Through our calls for funding applications and our activities, we seek to contribute to the development of an egalitarian healthcare of high quality. We pursue this, for example, by encouraging the spread of new medical technology to the benefit of patients. A product or service that helps patients recover faster and spend less time in hospital, not only reduces patient suffering but saves the time of healthcare staff and is a better solution for society at large. Medtech4Health works in several projects and initiatives to facilitate the implementation of medical technology in healthcare.
Goal 5: Gender equality
An important aspect of the Programme from a gender equality perspective is that a job in the field of medical technology should be an attractive career choice. A career choice where all feel welcome under equal conditions. To achieve this, work is underway to develop a gender equality strategy. This goal also covers project criteria, assessment processes and communication. We also plan for several activities in the area of norm-critical innovation.
Goal 9: Promote sustainable industry, foster innovation, build resilient infrastructure
Medical technology companies work for sustainability from three perspectives; the environmental, social and socio-economic. The demand-driven innovation process in the medical technology industry aims to provide more care for the financing available. We collaborate with and support these companies, facilitating good co-operation between medical technology companies, public healthcare and academia. The projects we support financially must take into account both gender equality and sustainability.
