Analytic Imaging Diagnostics Arena, AIDA

AIDA is a Swedish arena for research and innovation on artificial intelligence, AI, for medical image analysis. Here, academia, healthcare and industry meet to translate technical advances in AI technology into patient benefit in the form of clinically useful tools. AIDA is an initiative within the Strategic innovation program Medtech4Health, jointly supported by VINNOVA, Formas and the Swedish Energy Agency.

Opportunities for funding

Several support opportunities are available for efforts within the AIDA area, both in the form of funding and as unique prerequisites for method and knowledge development. See dates for currently open proposal rounds in the next section.

A main part of AIDA is innovation development projects, read more here: Propose Innovation Project.

Care provider employees can engage in AI competence development in the form of a fellowship project, Propose Clinical Fellowship.

AIDA also supports clinical evaluation of AI, where Swedish healthcare organizations evaluate commercially available AI solutions within diagnostic imaging: Propose Clinical Evaluation.

Current deadlines

AIDA now has an open proposal round for Clinical fellowships and Clinical evaluations. The deadline is November 12, 2024. There is currently no open proposal round for Innovation projects.

Benefits for AIDA partners

As an AIDA partner you have access to great resources. AIDA offers infrastructure for your AI research efforts in diagnostic imaging, with a flagship in the form of a 16-GPU computational system secured for handling sensitive personal data.

AIDA regularly organizes AIDA Days, workshops spreading knowledge and experiences on technical and clinical aspects of AI. In addition, the AIDA community has broad and deep expertise that you can tap into both within and outside the workshops.

There will be three AIDA Days during the fall of 2024 : Sep 3-4 (remote), Oct 22-23 (Lund), and Nov 20-21 (Linköping, CMIV). Programs are available in the internal AIDA Confluence site.

As co-funded by AIDA you become an AIDA partner, but there is also the possibility to join the AIDA community without a formal AIDA project as a Network Partner. Read more: AIDA Network Partner.

Open AIDA resources

“AIDA-listan”: Listing of Swedish implementation efforts

“AIDA-listan” gathers information about AI validation and implementation projects within diagnostic imaging in Swedish healthcare, to promote collaboration and knowledge exchange. It is accessible to employees of Swedish care providers. If you want to get access send an email to aida-info@medtech4health.se and if you want to share your AI implementation experiences please register them here.

AI Course for Radiologists and Pathologists

AIDA regularly arranges AI courses for radiologists and pathologists, typically in the Swedish language. A popular event is the recurring basic AI course over three days. The next occasion is May, 2025 Read more: AIDA AI Course

Guest at AIDA Days

As introduced above, AIDA organizes the workshop series AIDA Days for affiliated partners. Non-partners are welcome to visit an AIDA Days event as guest, a good way to explore how you and your organization could benefit from joining AIDA (e.g. as a Network Partner). Contact aida-info@medtech4health.se, for more information.
