Propose an AIDA Innovation Project

A main part of the AIDA initiative is to host efforts from all of Sweden, aiming to contribute to development and adoption of AI methods in imaging diagnostics. AIDA welcomes proposals from groups of researchers and innovators, from both academia and industry, that aim to develop AI-based decision support methods for imaging diagnostics. A close collaboration with clinical counterparts is required.

Currently, there is no open proposal round for Innovation Projects in AIDA. For reference, the conditions for previous rounds are described below.

The offer includes up to 50% financing of the project costs and access to a unique arena with knowledge exchange and a technical platform. Utilization of the platform is 100% funded up to a certain level. If you have the technical idea but the clinical counterpart is lacking, AIDA can assist in developing content and collaborations. As inspiration you can read about previous projects here.

Complete information about how to apply can be found in the following document: Opportunity for Innovation Projects. Summary of the main points:

  • The project is to develop AI-based decision support for diagnostic imaging
  • The AIDA funding can cover at most 50% of the project cost, and amount to 500 kSEK or less
  • A typical project has, thus, a cost budget of 1000 kSEK, of which 500 kSEK is covered by AIDA funds
  • The project must start at the latest three months from the proposal deadline, and end at the latest 24 months from start.
  • Some presence at the meeting place (often CMIV, Linköping) is required, at AIDA’s workshop series
  • Sharing of the project’s data within AIDA is a strong positive factor for the proposal
  • Proposals on Innovation Projects can be combined with Clinical Fellowships

Proposals should be described using the template Template AIDA innovation project proposal. The proposal is submitted to the Arena Director at aida-director@medtech4health.se. Incoming proposals are then refined in a dialog with the Arena Director. We therefore recommend submitting a first version well in advance of the deadline.

AIDA Day September 2020

AIDA Day in September would have been relocated to a place other than Linköping for the first time since AIDA started. Lund would be the first to host. Due to the fact that the situation is as it is, it was instead a well-attended meeting at a distance.
